How To Use The Pacifier

It is a natural and reassuring reflex for a baby to suck since it’s the way he feeds and relaxes. And the older your child is, the less need will be felt.

How to use

If your child uses a soother, make sure to never put sugar, honey or any kind of syrups on it to prevent early childhood cavities. It is recommended the child leaves the pacifier before the age of 3 (the need to suck decreases greatly between 1 and 3 years old). The soother should be stopped from using before the eruption of permanent teeth, around the age of 5 in order to avoid growth problems to the jawbone. In the long term, using a soother, or sucking the thumb, could disturb the teeth alignment and positioning. If the child tends to speak with his pacifier in the mouth, he could also develop a speech and elocution disorder.

Most importantly, do not hesitate to ask us for advice and remember that although some so-called “orthodontic” soothers exist, they are rarely better than the regular ones.
